BetBlocker Expands Safer Gambling Tools to Chinese and Vietnamese Languages

The non-profit organization BetBlocker is setting a significant milestone in global gambling harm prevention. Through a strategic partnership with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), its free and anonymous gambling management software is now available in three critical new language versions: Vietnamese, simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese. This step is part of a long-term strategy to facilitate access to support for individuals whose native language is not English, ensuring that technical hurdles do not impede the path to recovery.

The rollout coincides with the 2026 observance of Responsible Gaming Education Month in September. In the United States, particularly in the state of Massachusetts, there is an urgent need for such offerings. Statistics show that more than half of households in this region use a language other than English as their primary tongue. Alongside Spanish and Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese represent major linguistic groups, which is why the MGC championed the development of these specific modules to ensure equal access to protection tools.

BetBlocker is a well-known entity in the harm reduction sector. The software already supports 17 additional languages and has expanded worldwide in recent years. Its expansion into the U.S. market was solidified by the establishment of BetBlocker US as an officially recognized 501(c) non-profit in Delaware in March 2025. In addition to the partnership with the MGC, the organization also works with the Colorado Lottery to provide users with access to control mechanisms without direct intervention from operators. BetBlocker creator and trustee Duncan Garvie has long emphasized that paywalls between vulnerable users and support services create dangerous barriers.
